Learn how DogGoneInsurance.com started. We think you’ll agree, what we evolved into today is no coincidence!
Beth DeLaForest is an Independent Insurance Agent licensed in MN and WI. Beth started in the Insurance Industry writing for State Farm Insurance in 2001, before she ever was involved as a pit bull advocate or knew the breed was facing obstacles. Beth left State Farm in 2010 (more on this later).
In 2003 Beth’s pit bull Brea inspired her to take a stand for the breed. She started volunteering for A Rotta Love Plus, a MN based Pit Bull and Rottweiler Rescue. Beth is one of 3 founding members who molded A Rotta Love into what you see today (www.arottalove.org).
2005 - While with A Rotta Love in 2005 Beth started the Dog Safety Program, piloting the program with Crossroads Elementary in St. Paul. This program educates children about dog safety. Children have a hands-on experience with a vetted dog which is a pit bull or Rottweiler – teaching safety while showing off breed ambassadors! This program later grew into partnering with the Children’s Museum and various other venues, even birthday parties! Beth was even featured in a State Farm magazine for the program she started. This program is still in force today and has reached thousands of children.
2008 - Breed Specific Legislation (BSL) was introduced in MN. The bill proposed a state-wide ban of pit bulls, Akita’s, Chows, Rottweiler’s, and wolf-hybrids. A Rotta Love had assembled a coalition when they caught wind of the bill, Beth spoke at the Legislative session against the ban on behalf of A Rotta Love and breed owners of MN. The breed ban bill died very quickly with no legislators interested in such a law.
2009 - Beth worked on the dangerous dog law in MN to create a responsible dog owner bill. This was a program designed to educate owners of designated dangerous dog/ potentially dangerous dog with the intent to remove the designation on the dog once the course was completed. This bill was not introduced as there was a cost associated with the program and the MN budget was at a deficit this specific year.
2009 - Beth started Rott N Pit Ed, a training program free for life for fosters and to those whom adopt through A Rotta Love Plus. There is a discount offered to the public who want to attend Rott N Pit Ed. This resource is a safe place for people who have Pit Bulls and Rottweiler’s, their focus is to create breed ambassadors before a dog is even adopted out! Beth is not a trainer BUT with the resources she had was able to put the right people in the right places to get the program up and running. Today the program is still running strong, helping many, and is funded in part by grants.
In late 2009 Beth tearfully resigned from A Rotta Love's board. Life circumstances called Beth to focus on family as her children were 1 and 2, she was still working full time and her husband, Adam, was starting in Chiropractic practice. Little did Beth know that this circumstance was positioning her for something more!
In 2010 Beth left State Farm to become an Independent Insurance Agent on her own through an established Agency in the MN Metro area. From 2010-2014 Beth focused on learning the Independent side of insurance – Beth loved the change, the challenge and the freedom!
In 2014 Beth made a bold decision to take the book of business she built and start her own agency – Aspire Insurance Group Inc (www.aspireinsurancegroup.com), a part of Insurance Producers Network (www.insuranceproducersnetwork.com). This had been a dream that Beth never quite believed she would have the privilege to obtain, BUT once the wheels were put in motion it was almost surreal to see everything fall into place! Aspire Insurance Group is a full service Independent Insurance Agency. In 2014 Beth also started Doggoneinsurance.com, which is a part of Aspire Insurance Group Inc.
It’s quite interesting to see how time has woven profession and passion together, it’s not a coincidence. Beth’s passion combined with her professional expertise creates an outstanding resource and advocate for dog owners in MN and WI! Beth is knowledgeable, passionate, and compassionate and loves helping two legged family members stay united with four legged family members.
